Carol Suchman is a New York City resident who takes time to give back around the holidays. Every year, she buys toys and gives them to the city’s neediest children. This year, though, Suchman took giving to a whole new level, and what she did will definitely inspire you.
Recently, Suchman came upon a toy store with a “For Rent” sign in the window — and the shelves were still fully stocked. She looked inside, and realized that it was full of toys, games, and school supplies. After inquiring, Suchman decided to buy the store with one thing in mind: She was going to give everything inside away.
“I know everyone could use a gift around the holidays,” Suchman said, with the utmost humility after such a generous act.
A rather shocked Antonio Rodriguez, who is Director of Special Events at New York’s Department of Homeless Services, said, “I’ve been doing this for many years and we have many generous sponsors and people do toy drives and do a lot of giving, but I have to say this is the first time anybody ever bought an entire store and donated it to the children in shelters.”
But that’s exactly what Suchman did, and New York City’s poorest children will receive the toys this Christmas. For more of the incredible story, see the video below.
